Hey friends! So recently I saw a post by Kulbir (check out her Instagram HERE and her blog HERE – she creates gorgeous cards so if you don’t already follow her I highly recommend that you do!) that had a Distress palette in the background of a photo with the Distress Watercolor Pencils shavings in it. I thought it was rather brilliant – and since I am finding that I prefer using the Distress Watercolor Pencils by picking up the color directly from the pencil with a water brush that a palette with the shavings would work awesome for me:

So that’s what I did. I sharpened all of the colors and put the shavings from each color into a well of a Distress Palette. And since there’s 36 colors of the Distress Watercolor Pencils and the palette has 36 wells it also satisfies my OCD lol. **2024 UPDATE LOL – not only are there now ALL the colors of Distress in watercolor pencil form but we now have an “extra” which is Picket Fence. As of typing this I’m not sure how I’ll do this as 2 palettes will fit the 72 colors and PF will need to find a home as I use that one a LOT.
**UPDATED February 2024 with links to the entire range of Distress Watercolor pencils as Ranger released the remaining colors – NOTE that Scorched Timber is sold individually because Picket Fence was included in the first set and it’s not considered “part of the Distress color line”. And there’s now a 2 bundle of just the Picket Fence & Black Soot pencils which is AWESOME as those are my 2 most used ones so being able to buy just those is perfect.
Also while I’m updating here are links to both of Tim Holtz videos with ALL the info you need regarding these pencils (plus a bunch of inspiration:
